Curtis Gaskins Scholarship for Music Therapy

2007:  Jude

This is a lifetime scholarship.  The Curtis Gaskins Scholarship is given because "It's the Right Thing To Do."  The scholarship is given to candidate's that have demonstrated exceptional musical connections but due to personal or family related circumstances, Music Therapy services would not be possible without assistance.  Mr. Curtis Gaskins taught us to persevere when faced with aversion, guided by what you believe in your heart to be the right thing to do.

Marcus Johnson's Miracles in Music

2007:  Hunter and Fletcher

This is a "special projects" grant.  Marcus Johnson's Miracles in Music grants are established and granted as the opportunity arises.  The grant is given when a specialized need presents itself and with a little creative thinking and coordinating, the need can be met.  Marcus was challenged with autism and during his second battle against leukemia, he was unable to return to school.  We were allowed the privilege of visiting Marcus at home and taking the music to him.  We were even able to take his entire class with us twice (thanks Joe Mohr!) to share music with his friends before he passed.
